Well-trained, medically guided Tribal Community members provide a variety of health care services out in the community and in homes. They act as educators, support systems, and often liaisons and advocates. It is also important to note that the CTUIR is a model community in terms of participating in its own healthcare decisions. It was the first tribal group to utilize the Community Health Representative Program (established in 1968), funded by the Federal Government.
