31 Jan Statement on Executive Orders
Dear CTUIR Tribal Members and Yellowhawk Patients,
Due to the various executive orders that have been issued by President Trump since taking office last week, many are wondering how these might affect operations at the Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center (Yellowhawk) and/or how does it affect you personally when it comes to your healthcare. As we saw earlier this week, there was a directive to pause federal funding for certain categories – none of which apply to Yellowhawk. We now know that the pause has been lifted. Fortunately, in the event of a pause in funding, we have contingency plans to maintain our operations. For now, all programs, functions, services and activities at Yellowhawk will continue as normal.
We want you to know that the team here at Yellowhawk, along with our colleagues at the CTUIR, are working diligently with various external partners to monitor changes that may affect us. We will work to ensure that the President’s administration and Congress are reminded of their legal and moral obligation to uphold what was agreed to in our 1855 Treaty.
With all the information and misinformation about executive orders out there, it can be confusing as to what is factual information. Please know that if there are changes to our operations, Yellowhawk will send out an official statement notifying everyone of what those changes are and how they might impact the delivery of healthcare to our patients.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns to share, please contact us via email at info@yellowhawk.org, or you can contact Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Hines at 541.966.9830.
