26 Nov Recall of FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus Sensors
MISSION – Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center is issuing an important notice to our community regarding a voluntary recall initiated by Abbott, the manufacturer of the FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. Abbott has identified that certain sensors may provide inaccurate low glucose readings, which could lead to inappropriate treatment decisions. In rare cases, affected sensors may also pose a battery-related safety risk, including overheating or device malfunction.
Yellowhawk Pharmacy has been alerted to potential issues with some FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus sensors that may have been dispensed through our pharmacy. We want to emphasize that not all sensors are affected—only those from specific lot numbers identified by Abbott.
What Patients Should Do
1. Check Your Sensor Lot Number
Find the lot number on the sensor box or applicator.
Visit: https://www.freestylecheck.com/us-en/home.html
Use Abbott’s tool to check if your sensor is affected.
The site also shows how to find your sensor’s serial number in the app or Libre 3 Reader.
2. If Your Sensor Is Affected
Stop using it immediately – readings may be inaccurate.
If you don’t have a replacement, use fingerstick testing until a new sensor arrives.
Contact Abbott Customer Service at 833-815-4273 for a free replacement.
